Ferb, I know what we're going to do today....

My daughter turned 10 on Saturday.  We gave her a Phineas and Ferb birthday party.  My husband and I sort of talked her into it because WE like the show so much!!  She said it was her best party ever!  It was a lot of fun.

I made a Dr. Doofenshmirtz pinata out of a paper bag...

My husband made an ice cream topping-inator!  He even played the part of Doofenshmirtz whe it was time for ice cream.  :)

complete with a self destruct button!

sign I made for the front door...

Agent P cake.  This turned out cute, but was a pain to make because my cake was falling apart!  I don't know what happened, but every layer of the cake decided to fall apart that day.  Needless to say, there's lots of icing on it!!

We had pizza for lunch....

Found the plates and napkins at Party City...

We played "Where's Perry?"  I hid a Perry Pez dispenser in the yard and the kid that found it got to keep it.  We also had Phineas and Ferb air guitar....

My daughter's favorite part was the Scavenger hunt.  I told the kids that some things had gone missing from the theme song.  They had to bring back:  a freshly showered monkey, something that doesn't exist, a painted continent, Frankenstein's brain, and a dodo bird.  I put 2 of each of these things around our yard and split the kids into 2 teams.

Here's the monkey shower station.  I put 2 stuffed monkeys, a bottle of febreze, 2 shower caps and a towel in a laundry basket on the back of my husband's truck.  They had to follow the directions and bring the monkey back to me.

Here's a freshly showered monkey....

Painting a continent...
I put a binder of coloring pages and some water colors on a bench.  They had to flip through and find a picture of a continent, paint it and bring it to me.

Claire found Frankenstein's brain.  Since her birthday is in October it was easy to find plastic brains.  I got these at Dollar Tree.  They had a large selection of plastic organs. :)

For the dodo bird I printed out pictures from the internet and clipped them to low tree leaves with a clothespin.  For something that doesn't exist, I printed out pictures of winged unicorns and put magnets on the back and stuck them on the side of my husband's truck.  It was funny.  The kids walked past them dozens of times without noticing them!  It was the hardest thing for both teams to find!!

We ended the party with the kids being secret agents and fighting Dr. D.  They all donned a secret agent hat and fought him blindfolded. :)

It was a really fun party!

I'm also linking up with Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia hosted by Magical Mouse Schoolhouse
So, here's a little Phineas and Ferb trivia for you:

The show takes place in Danville, which is in Jefferson County which is in the Tri-State Area. Danville is named after co-creator Dan Povenmire and Jefferson County is named after co-creator Jeff "Swampy" Marsh.

Nine!

Today was my daughter's 9th birthday.

She had a great day in school and played with her friends.  We went out for dinner to a local Italian restaurant and had chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream cake for dessert!!

Can't believe its been 9 years already.  My husband and I told her the other night that we weren't going to allow her to turn nine.  She just smiled and said, "you can't stop me!"

I'm posting this from the laptop and blogger is not cooperating with me, but below is her picture from today as well as a few from over the years.

Catching up

I've been so busy lately that I haven't had much time to blog. Here's one of the things I was doing...

I made 2 doz. of these cupcake ice cream cones for Claire to take to gymnastics on her birthday.
Here is a close up shot. They turned out really cute!

Wednesday was her birthday. Nathan woke up sick that day, but did school anyway (his choice!). Claire didn't have much school to do. She got ahead earlier in the week so she wouldn't have to do much on her birthday. Then, I took her to gymnastics and we all went out to dinner for her birthday. Came home to cupcakes and presents!

I started painting the guest bathroom on Tuesday. I painted over wall paper so I primed it Tuesday and painted it Thursday. Had some "issues" with the textured paint so I didn't finish until after 9:00 Thursday night. I'll post before and after pictures as soon as I add the final touches.

On Friday my parents came into town and we watched our Texas Rangers crush the Yankees to become the American League Champions!!!! That's right...we're going to the world series for the first time ever! We could not be more excited. I plan to do an individual post on that in a few days. :)

These pictures are from the last regular season game. I was not lucky enough to have tickets to the post season games. We had to watch from home. Tried to buy world series tickets, but they were already sold out. :(

Saturday was Claire's birthday party. She wanted a space party. I had lots of outdoor games planned, but it rained all afternoon! There were actually tornado sirens going off 5 minutes before the party was suppose to start! (The tornado threat was north of us though.) Needless to say, we moved the games indoors.

Notice her planet shirt in the picture. She had to have a planet shirt with Pluto on it when we visited the Lowell Observatory. I could not talk her into the pink girly shirt because "it didn't have pluto on it". Luckily we found one that did have Pluto on it. It was the perfect shirt for her party!

Now this week I have Claire's friends coming over, book club, our homeschool group's All Saint's Party (that I'm coordinating), halloween and watching every minute of the World Series!!

So, that's what I've been up to. What have you been up to?

Wordful Wednesday

Today is my daughter's 8th Birthday! She is so excited...she LOVES her birthday! It's hard to believe that its been 8 years already. The time has just flown by. So, my wordful wednesday post is dedicated to Claire today.

It seems like just yesterday she was this small!

Eating her one of her favorites...fried chicken.

The first time my princess met a Disney princess!

Her 5th Birthday party. She looks so little!

At Walt Disney World in 2009. (with her build a bear bunny in tow!)

She's our little gymnast. She loves gymnastics!

Last week at the botanical gardens. She had a blast feeding the fish.

Happy Birthday, Claire!!

My little Gymnast

Claire had her very first gymnastics meet yesterday. She was so excited! She is on a developmental team so they have the coaches near them to spot them and help tell them what to do if they forget. Claire did really well.

This is her on the bars. She seemed to face away from us for every event so I really don't have many good pictures! Her only white ribbon was on bars. The judge was grading HARD on the bars! The highest score he gave for her group was a 7.9 and that was to a girl who even went to the high bar and did really well. Claire's score was a 7.5 so we were pretty happy with that after seeing all those other scores!

This is her on the beam. (Again, facing away from us!) She was the only one on her entire team that tried a cartwheel on the beam with no help. She just learned to do it this week. Her coach was really impressed that she could do it and land on both feet on the beam so she put it in her routine for the meet. Unfortunately, Claire was really excited and went a little fast. She fell off the beam when she did it. :( She still got an 8.7 for a score. It was a red ribbon, but since the element was so hard it didn't completely kill the score. She looked very upset afterward, but she must have gotten over it because she went out on the floor and got a blue ribbon on her floor exercise! I was videotaping that so I don't have any pictures of it.

Her other event was the vault. I was videotaping that one too, so no still shots. She got an 8.8 on it for a red ribbon.

She was so proud! All of the girls got a team medal. Claire loves her medal!! She's been wearing it around the house off and on today!

Her next meet is in April. This is really fun...although its a little nervewracking for parents! My heart just sank when she fell doing the cartwheel, but I was so proud of her for trying it. They are grading differently this year too, so the scores are being done a lot like the competitions for the older gymnasts. Apparantly, in the past, if you showed up and did a routine you got a blue ribbon. I hardly saw any blue ribbons yesterday. I like the scoring though. I think if you are going to compete for something then you should have to earn it.

Can't wait for the next meet!
