Wordful Wednesday

Our move was a little traumatic for our cat, Simba. She's a very skittish cat anyway, but when the movers showed up in a big truck she really freaked out! I wasn't there. My husband and son were. They said she ran and hid under the neighbor's car and then ran off. They get to the new house and my husband says, "oh, yea. Your cat ran away."

I went back that afternoon to look for her, but I couldn't find her. We went back again that evening...no simba. The next day was Sunday so we went to church and then went back to the old house to look for her. We could hear her meowing in the back yard, but she wouldn't come. I went around back and got her. She really just laid down in the garage and that was it. So, we went to eat lunch and then went back for her. She went right in her crate, which was odd. She hates the crate. She also just laid in it on the way to the new house. Again, odd. She usually paces back and forth the whole time she's in the car. She spent the rest of the day just laying in the crate! That night she came out and was acting weird. She was just kind of crawling around, not really walking. I turned her over to see her paws. I thought she might have a thorn or something. Worse. Her front paws were completely raw! She must have come back during the night and pawed at the door to get in. She actually pawed 3 screws out of the metal that holds the weather stripping on! That explained why she just laid around all day.

She spent about 3 days just crawling around. Her paws are better now--still a little pink, but she walks just fine now. Poor thing. I felt so bad for her! Somehow, somewhere she lost her collar and tags so we had to get her new ones. The kids picked out a hot pink collar with rhinestone paw prints on it! I tried to get it in the picture, but she wasn't real cooperative! She's getting used to the inside of the house. She hasn't explored the outside yet. I'm a little nervous about letting her out there. I got her new license tag today so maybe we'll do a little supervised exploring this weekend. :)
