During our trip to the zoo a couple weeks ago we discovered the Nature exchange. You can bring nature items or academic work dealing with nature in and exchange it for points. These points can then be used to "buy" other nature items that other people have brought in. Its really cool. My kids talk about it constantly and can't wait to go back! Nathan had sketched some animals that day at the zoo so they gave him points for them. This is one of the things he got....

Can you guess what it is? C'mon, take a guess!
The answer is posted in my comments section, but I'd love to know what you thought it was.

Its a fungus! I'm not sure what kind. He forgot to ask the guy there. Its about 10 inches across and its hard. I actually think it looks like some unique piece of art or something. Its currently on display in our schoolroom! So, what did you think it was?
A fungus? lol...I was going to say it was the inside of an elephants ear. OMG. now I feel dumb, lol.
I was thinking some type of mushroom. It almost looks like a piece of wood though. Very interesting.
Happy WW!
Okay, now I do feel silly because it looks like somebody got sick, but then I looked again, and thought maybe it was a piece of work that was carved, and believe it or not I see Bambi in the middle laying down. Man, I need to get a life here or some rest. lol
