Postcard Friendship Friday #65

Last week I posted my prospector card from the Old West Collection Series. This is the other card from that series that I have...The chuckwagon.

My husband and I went to a chuckwagon breakfast one time in Palo Duro Canyon. It was really cool, but not nearly as rustic as this card shows. We had picnic tables and covered seating! I'm sure these guys would have enjoyed that back in the day!

Thanks to Beth at The Best Hearts are Crunchy for hosting Postcard Friendship Friday!

Cool PC! I guess that's why they wore all those BIG HATS! They had to take their shade with them. That and they were tougher than we are. LOL
Happy PFF!

Love it! I love real pictures from other times that show what that time period was really like, rather than a re-creation of the time.

I like those boxes they used on the chuck wagons. From a previous blog post of mine:

The chuck wagons that were used on western cattle drives originated in 1866. Charles Goodnight rebuilt a sturdy four-wheel wagon, fitting it with a chuck (food) box in the rear. The chuck box was the width of the wagon and had a hinged lid that lowered to become a work surface for the cook. Inside the chuck box were shelves and drawers for food and cooking utensils.

A most popular wagon, how wonderful to sit around a camp fire and have a meal made after a hard day in the saddle.

Any information on the back as to where this was taken?

Great card! This reminds me of a song I love - The Goodnight Loving Trail by Robin Holcomb.
