Postcard Friendship Friday #74

Here are more postcards from our recent vacation. These are from Hannibal, MO, home of Mark Twain. The first one is his childhood home (built by his father) complete with that famous whitewashed fence from Tom Sawyer!

This one is a postcard of the famous whitewashing scence with Tom. Its the same fence that's in the first postcard. It was painted by a local Hannibal artist named Martha Mudd Adrian.

It was great seeing all of the places that influenced Twain so much. If you'd like to see more of our adventures in Hannibal click the following link or just scroll down.

Postcard Friendship Friday is hosted by Beth at www.thebestheartsarecrunchy.blogspot.com .

I have a favor to ask of all of my PFF friends (as well as all my other friends too!)...

As you may know, I homeschool my children. My daughter is going to be in 3rd grade next year and will study the 50 states. She's my challenging child so I try to do as much as I can to make learning fun for her. So, she is trying to collect postcards from each of the 50 states. If you'd be willing to help her out we'd really appreciate it! Just send me an email saying you'd like to help and I'll send you the address. If you'd like, send us your address too and we'll send a Texas postcard back to you! My email: aimeesland@sbcglobal.net Thanks so much!!

Oh, what a fantastic card!! Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, my childhood buddies :)
Back in the 90s, I worked in a tv company and we broadcast the Huckfinn adventures on tv, dubbed in local dialect. Guess what, I voiced Tom Sawyer! LOL.
I wish I can help with the postcard but if you need something from Asia (specifically Cambodia) I can send you one or two.

What a lovely set of cards to have! I can't help you with the state cards, I'm afraid, but I'd be happy to send from France or England if you need any in the future.

Great cards (and really like the second one). Such fun to remember travel through the postcards. I'm guessing you don't need a card from Tx!!! :D :D :D :D

Great post cards. I really love the second one.

The post card exchange is such great idea. We've done that and the kids really enjoy it. I have lots of VA cards if you are interested. I'll email you ;)

I have been there and seen that beautiful house - it was quite some time ago. It's so interesting to see how far and wide the people who participate in PFF are from one another. I would be happy to find a Michigan card for your daughter!! Just let me know where to send it.

Mark Twain was an interesting man... did you know he spent time in Hawaii? While living there I learned more about him then I had earlier in my life. Love your post cards... what a great project for your daughter. I guess all of us on PFF are collectors of postcards. I have a ton of them, my true love is vintage cards of Atlantic City.

I am in Washington State and would love to help.

My kids were sent postcards from all over the world, and they've ended up knowing geography better than any of their peers. I love the idea. Plus it helped having a world map in the kitchen!

I love seeing these postcards - nice to see something I read about and daydreamed about as a child.

I can send a postcard from Oregon if you don't already have one. I'll e-mail you!

What a perfect way to learn more about the states - knowing there are kind people in them who will send a bit of education. I'll be happy to send a card from Florida.
