So glad to be back linking up with postcard friendship Friday hosted by Beth. We've been so busy with all the usual spring activities that I haven't had much time to blog. The kids are finishing up school though and I finally have a little free time. Just in time to post a wildflower postcard! The wildflowers are blooming everywhere right now. I took some pics at a local park yesterday. You can see them here.
Speaking of springtime, our local paper holds a Peeps diorama contest every year. My daughter and I entered and ours was selected as one of the top 10. Voting is going on right now, so if you wouldn't mind clicking on this link and voting for us, we'd really appreciate it. Claire is so excited and really wants to win! Ours is the 2012 London Olympeeps one.

Exciting News!!!
We got some exciting news today. The Peeps diorama that Claire and I made was selected as one of the top ten!! There is online voting until Sunday at 5 pm.
We'd really appreciate anyone who clicks on the following link and votes for us.
Ours is the 2012 London Olympeeps.
Claire is so excited...the whole olympic theme was her idea! :)
Wildflowers!
The kids are starting to finish up with some of their subjects now. That left us with some time today so we went to the park. Spring is wild flower season in Texas so I took lots of pictures!
You can't speak of wildflowers and Texas without showing pictures of bluebonnets...
Even though we are quite proud of our bluebonnets, we do have other flowers here!
I made my kids pose for a picture in the bluebonnets. They weren't happy about it!
But I made them do it anyway because this is the last picture I have of them in the bluebonnets!!
(Same park, same patch too!)
I guess I never got around to taking them back out for pictures in the last 9 years!! That falls into the category of "meant to do, but never did." That list just keeps growing!
I linked up with Deb Duty Photography today.

Peeps!!
It's that time of year again! Time for our local paper's Peep's Diorama contest. Claire and I have entered for the last two years. Last year we made it to the finals and came in 9th in the online voting. We turn in our entry today so wish us luck on making it to the finals again! Our theme this year is "Olym-peeps." Claire picked it out. She actually came up with it almost 2 years ago, but I talked her into waiting until the year of the summer Olympics.
Here's the complete diorama...
The Peep on the beam and the judges...
The weight lifting Peeps!
The medal winners...yes, they are all from the USA!
The rythmic gymnast...
The swimmers getting ready to dive into the pool...
The Crowd...
Claire has her heart set on winning so I sure hope we make the final ten again this year!!

Backyard Fun!
We've really been enjoying the nice weather here in Texas.
The kids have been spending a lot of time outside. We have a great backyard at this house.
The kids aren't the only ones who spend a lot of time outside!
How's the weather where you live?

Spring!
We are crazy busy around here with baseball season and gymnastic meets and finishing up school and so on. I'm trying to keep up with my blog, but I never seem to have enough hours in my day anymore!
I did find the time to go out to the backyard and snap a couple pictures of our blooming flowers this morning though. They are so pretty. The wisteria is all along our fence and its very pretty to look at.

100,000!!
My faithful minivan hit 100,000 miles today!
I was so excited. I've never driven a car to 100,000 miles. My husband has, but I usually have the newer car, so I've never personally done it. It made me think of all the places my van has taken us over the last 7 years...
to lots of homeschool events and holiday parties...
to the zoo...
to lots of soccer practices and games!
down to Corpus Christi (many, many trips down there...that's where our families live!)
to LOTS and LOTS of baseball practices and games!!
to and from church every week for the last 7 years!
to Dealy Plaza in Dallas and the famous...
...grassy knoll!
We've made many trips to the Ballpark in Arlington
especially on Ice Cream Sunday!
All the way through Louisiana and over the Mighty Mississippi River...
then through Mississippi, Alabama and most of Florida to get to one of our favorite destinations...
Walt Disney World!
and all the way back home again where we have enjoyed countless trips to Chick-fil-a!
Then, cross country again through Oklahoma and Kansas for a stop in Kansas City...
then through Missouri to visit Hannibal...
...the boyhood home of Mark Twain and
the Mark Twain cave featured in Tom Sawyer!
further through Missouri to Illinois and the resting place of one of our greatest presidents...
then on to St. Louis and...
...home again through some terrible thunderstorms.
What a good van! We arrived home without a scratch!
There have been MANY trips to the museum,
and I wonder how many of those 100,000 miles were spent driving to and from gymnastics!
(a lot!!)
and did I mention we like to go to the zoo?
and the museum??
We hit the 100,000 mark today on the way home from picking the kids up from a friend's house.
Here I am with only 4 miles left to go!
and there it is...100,000!
It just so happened that we hit 100,000 right next to a Sonic...so we had to stop and celebrate!
As another way to celebrate I think I'll get the oil changed. I noticed today I'm 2000 miles over due!
