When my husband and I first got married we said we wanted to see 50 states in 50 years together. We've been married for 14 and have only been to 10. I guess life just happens and we got a little behind! Since we were flying to Arizona for vacation this year that was only going to give us 1 state. Well, we had to have a layover either in El Paso or Albequerque. I chose Albequerque so we could mark New Mexico off our list! My husband said he didn't really think that should count. But I said we were getting off the plane and having lunch in the airport so it does count! To make it count even more I bought postcards in the airport too! I really liked these hot air ballooon ones. So, I've never been to one of these hot air balloon festivals, but maybe one day I will. For now, I'll just enjoy the postcards!

I love hot air balloons, lived in NM for many years and crewed for a balloon. They are beautiful and so much fun (if you have a good pilot). Lovely card .. hope you get to go back and see more of a very beautiful state.
That's too funny. Anyway, you aren't too far behind; it would be easy to catch up with one cross-country drive. I keep telling myself I need to see more of this country too.
Oooooh, would you LOOK at that!!! Hopefully next Wednesday I'll be floating in the air in one of those magical baloons.
(grin) Happy PFF!
I've been lucky enough to have a ride in a hot air balloon once - it was exquisite, especially when the the hot air generator thingie was off, and we just floated - so quiet!
What a wonderful goal! I think getting off the plane counts, definitely!
I love those balloons - I think I even spied a tractor one in there!
It used to be popular for postcard collectors to make state albums with certain types of cards from each state. That might be something that would be fun for you.
Road trip! I like the balloon of Mr. Peanut!
Fun. There's an enchantment to hot air balloons. I haven't seen nearly enough of the U.S. I see you've been to the Grand Canyon, great photos. That's on my list, one of these days...Happy PFF!
I've never been to a hot air balloon event but they held them near where I used to live - so I enjoyed seeing them float overhead.
Your goal is to check out the states, not check off.
:)
Don't dismiss a state with an airport layover.
:)
Wow, those look amazing. And what a great plan for travel adventure :)
