L.E.N.S. Photo challenge: February

The L.E.N.S. photo challenge is hosted by Home is Where you start from. This week's theme is February. My photo is from our February snow. We usually have spring-like weather in December, but when February rolls around here comes the snow!

Postcard Friendship Friday #67

The postmark is very smudgy, but I think it says 1942 or 1912. Big difference, I know, but I can't make it out. The stamp is one cent. Anyone know what the postage was in 1942 or 1912? :)
I love the keyhole look of the card. Not your typical Valentine looking postcard.
I just had to post a card today that showed snow because this is what we woke up to this morning in North Texas...

We've actually been iced in since Tuesday. Now, there is snow. Its pretty and all, but its very cold here (hasn't been above freezing in 3 days). I'm ready for spring!
Postcard Friendship Friday is hosted by Beth at The Best Hearts are Crunchy.
Don't forget...there's still a couple days left to enter my giveaway. The link is in my sidebar.

Snowy Spring Sunday

Yesterday, the 2nd day of spring, we woke up to this...

Yes, that is snow you see. Now, I realize that may not be such an odd thing in Mid March for some, but we live in TEXAS!! We just got a dusting. About an hour north of us got several inches.

Thank goodness Mother Nature has returned our spring weather today. It's a beautiful day out there today. No more snow, ok, Mother Nature??

Its nice to get an unexpected break!

Today is Tuesday. We refer to Tuesdays around here as "Crazy Tuesdays"! Claire has an art class at 9:30, Nathan has an art class at 11:00, they have PE at 1:30 and Claire has gymnastics at 4:00. But not today! Art and PE were cancelled (haven't heard about gymnastics yet) because it is snowing again. We are on track to have the snowiest winter ever here in North Texas!

So, I get a little break on what is normally our busiest day of the week! Now, I didn't know all of these things would be cancelled so we still got up early. We even made it to morning mass, which was my "thing" I was doing for Lent. So, since we were up early and stuff was cancelled, Claire is already finished with school, and I have time to blog! Yea for "Not so crazy Tuesday"!

So far, this is how much snow we've had. Its really starting to come down now with some big flakes. I think we are suppose to get 1-3 inches.

Wordless Wednesday/Wordful Wednesday

Ok, this is definately more wordful than wordless! Here in Texas we had a record snowfall last week. We had over 11 inches!! It was the good snow too. My daughter became a pro and rolling snowballs! The rest of us couldn't do it, but she whipped them out like crazy!
We made a 6 ft 6 in. tall snowman. That was just with the snow from half of our driveway! Its the only snow left now...the big lump that used to be the snowman!

More snow pics

It's still snowing! This is the best snow we've ever had since we've lived in North Texas.
The kids have been out playing in it off and on most of the day.

Claire built a snow bear.

Nathan built a snow elephant. He said its Babar so we put a crown on it!

This is the view of our driveway from inside the garage.

Look how hard its coming down!

Its so beautiful!

More Snow!!!

Yesterday I posted about how I'm ready for spring. I am. We've had lots of wet, cold weather recently. Our winters are usually a lot milder than this, but we got the good snow today!
I knew snow was in the forecast for today. Last night on the news they said snow/rain mix in the morning turning to snow in the afternoon. Well, they were a little off! This is what I woke up to this morning.
We had set the recycling out last night and it had little snow drifts around it already!

Claire couldn't wait to get out there! She sure did her schoolwork fast today! I took these pictures through the school room window. She was pointing at the ground telling me, "look how deep it is!" Then she started hopping through it like a frog!

She made a whole leapfrog circle around Nathan's Baseball net!

While we were eating lunch Claire spotted some birds sitting in our tree in the front. We are going to hang some food in it for them. They looked cold!

When Nathan finished school he joined Claire outside. They were having a snowball fight and he kept catching the ones she was throwing at him. So, she started making REALLY big snow balls!

According to our noon news we have had 3.5 inches already. It is still coming down, quite heavy at times. They are predicting 6-8 inches before its all over. That is fun snow!
So, I will enjoy this beautiful snow for today and then when it melts away, I will go back to wishing it was spring again!
