We went to the animal shelter today to renew our cat's license and the kids found a kitten they wanted to adopt. Over dinner they asked my husband if they could have another cat and he, of course, said no. Then the whole pet topic got a little crazy!
A couple things to know: I love turtles! And Claire has 4 snails from our backyard for pets. (I need to do a whole separate post about those snails!)
Hubby: We can't get another pet. Mommy doesn't want to take care of it.
Claire: I'll take care of it.
Me: How many times have you cleaned Simba's litterbox?
Claire: Well, she's your cat.
Nathan: What about a rabbit?
Me: Yea, I found a place to adopt rabbits.
Hubby: Can we let it get really big and eat it?
Everyone else: NO!!!
Hubby: Then we can't get it. You can only have a pet we can eat.
Claire: I have 4 snails.
Hubby: We can eat snails. We ate escargot.
Me: I think those are different snails, Honey.
Nathan: Then, I want a pet spider.
Me: NO!!!!
Hubby: What about a turtle? We can eat a turtle
Me: NO!!!!
Nathan: Then, I want a pet elephant.
Claire: Can I have a pet giraffe?
Me: There are laws that say you can have those kinds of animals for pets.
Nathan: What about a penguin?
Me: Well, that might be ok. I don't think a penguin would be any trouble.
Hubby: I don't know, did you ever see that penguin on Batman?
This whole conversation just cracked me up so I had to post it!

It cracks me up too! YOur hubby has a point about The Penguin though! His poison spewing umbrella could be a real problem!
Hmm..funny..we have similar dinner conversations too. LOL. Blessings
Funny! I love those conversations with your fam---not the typical "how was your day" boring ones!:)
P.S. I just saw how your name is spelled...my daughter's teacher from last year spelled her name the same and it is pronounced different than Amy. That was the first time I heard that name. Do you pronounce your name the same? I think it is so unique and pretty! Either way!:)
Laurie, My name is pronounced like Amy. My mom just liked the different spelling. I've never heard it pronounced differently though...that's interesting.
